Testimonials

"When we decided to renovate our vacation home our neighbor recommended a local contractor named Satterthwaite and Carhart. (We have since referred them ourselves to a number of our other neighbors). From the very beginning we knew Ted and Ric were going to be positive to work with as Ted actually answered his phone the first time we called and agreed to come over to talk to us that weekend.

The project involved a full renovation of the house including a complete redo of the kitchen and three bathrooms, the installation of a new heating and cooling system, new flooring throughout, wiring for CAT5 throughout and installation of a full entertainment system, repair of the deck and complete repainting of the interior and exterior.

Ted and Ric could not have been better to work with and the quality of their work was second to none. Ted advised us of ways to cut costs without sacrificing the integrity of the project or quality of materials. When the project was completed it exceeded our expectations.

Ted kept us apprised of every step in construction and was always available to answer questions or discuss options.

We have maintained an excellent working relationship with Satterthwaite and Carhart during these past few years and have found them to be knowledgeable, professional and easy to deal with. They have gone to great lengths, above and beyond anything we would have ever expected, to provide excellent work and we highly recommend their services. They have since helped us with a number of smaller projects and if we have another project in the future, Satterthwaite and Carhart is the company we will call to complete the job."

When we decided to build our vacation home our architect gave us the names of three (3) builders. We chose Satterthwaite and Carhart. Since we had owned the property for 15 years before building, it was very important that our builder shared our vision for the home. Ted and Rick were perfect. Our vision was their vision. Ted advised us of ways to cut costs without sacrificing the integrity of the home or quality of materials. When the house was completed it was exactly the home we envisioned.

We never felt the need to be constantly on the construction site and, in fact, were only on-site approximately 4 times throughout the entire construction phase. Ted kept us apprised of every step in construction and was always available to answer questions or discuss options. He even made suggestions beyond the architectural plans that improved the look of the house. The result was a unique home that is rock solid.

Our experience was so positive that, naively, we thought that all builders possessed the same degree of skill and, more importantly, integrity and interest that Ted and Rick possess. Sadly, this is not the case and after our home was completed we heard horror stories from other home owners.

Six months after our home was completed, Ted and Rick finished our bottom level with the same level of skill and interest as when they had built the house. They are now constructing a screened-in porch for us. If we have another project in the future, Satterthwaite and Carhart is the company we will call to complete the job.

We have worked with Satterthwaite & Carhart for many years. Our first project was a full, period-appropriate renovation of a 1907 Craftsman. We chose them over other vendors because they clearly understood the level of quality we needed to do it properly, and were wonderful partners as we worked to consistently do right by the house. We ended up with a beautiful update to our home that makes us happy every time we walk in. We have continued to use their services for various fixes and upgrades, and are always pleased with the craftsmanship of their work.

We chose to undertake another, more daunting, full-house renovation in the area. Our confidence in Satterthwaite & Carhart's ability to help us save this new property was a big part of our willingness to take on the project. They are trustworthy and easy to work with. We are typically managing these projects from afar, and both Ted and Ric are great communicators, with an innate understanding of how to keep the project moving forward while keeping us in the loop at all times. Their ability to problem-solve over text and pictures is amazing! And, they have such a depth of building experience, that they truly can problem-solve effectively in any situation, even through the curveballs that older properties love to throw our way.

We would not hesitate to recommend them for any renovation or building project - they are the perfect partner for whatever you are looking to undertake!

“Satterthwaite & Carhart has completed construction of over a half-dozen projects that we have designed. As a result of their performance on these jobs, we currently identify them as a “preferred contractor” in our internal database of resources and we indicate this to our other clients who are looking for a good contractor. I have personally found both Ted and Ric to be thorough, professional and easy to work with. They pay attention to detail, they anticipate workflow and their construction work is of excellent quality.”

“As chairman of the Architectural Review Board, I also had the opportunity to review their [Satterthwaite and Carhart’s] work closely. Consequently, last year when my wife and I needed an addition to our house, we were glad to be able to award the contract to Ted and Ric. The results were excellent. Not only was their own work very good, but they selected very skilled subcontractors. The completed addition was even better than we expected.”
